LG Electronics (LG) has announced the latest webOS 6.0 for its upcoming 2021 smart TVs.
The latest version of LG’s smart TV platform paired with the new Magic Remote gives viewers a more intuitive content discovery experience. The renewed LG ThinQ AI in webOS 6.0 supports new voice commands for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Those who are already familiar with webOS will instantly notice the updated home screen redesigned attractively. The New Home screen renders faster access to the most frequently used apps and streamlines content discovery with recommendations based on the user’s preferences and viewing history. These are shown in full-screen to show preferred content and related information. The New Home also serves as a central hub for settings and the webOS ecosystem.
The Magic Remote offers simpler controls when using voice recognition with the brand’s multi-AI offerings, such as LG ThinQ, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant. Moreover, the remote comes with user-friendly features making it simple to navigate, slick, and easy to hold and use. Its features include faster connections between the TV and other devices and hotkeys for accessing popular content providers such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+.
Additionally, Magic Tap, a one-touch NFC function on the Magic Remote, grants instant access to various viewing possibilities. By simply reaching an NFC-enabled smartphone to the remote, users may share content from their smartphones to the TV or the other way around. Users may also view content stored on their mobile phones or their LG TVs.
On the other hand, the Magic Explorer, an enhanced version of LG’s Magic Link, gives informative content related to what’s currently showing on the screen. The content-dependent feature also presents the easiest shopping practice for products showing across select broadcast channels and LG TV services, including Live TV, Gallery, Settings, and TV Guide. This works by changing the color of the cursor whenever Magic Explorer has information to share. Not just that, there is also the new Next Picks feature that analyzes viewers’ choices to discover more content that would match their preferences.
“The latest version of our user-friendly open TV platform webOS 6.0 represents the most significant update since we first introduced webOS in 2014,” President of LG Home Entertainment Company, Park Hyoung-sei, stated.
LG’s newest lineup of TVs sporting the webOS 6.0 will be on exhibit in LG’s virtual exhibition booth during CES 2021 to begin on January 11.
