LinkedIn, one of the most popular business and employment service websites in the world, has released their 2019 Emerging Jobs in the Philippines report which shows that the demand for jobs requiring hybrid skills is rising.
For the last five years, LinkedIn’s analyzations found that the top five emerging jobs in the country are related to technology. While the actual job roles vary, the jobs listed also require skills in communication and management.
According to the report, the top five emerging jobs in the Philippines are as follows:
- Data Scientist
- Application Development Analyst
- Back End Developer
- Full Stack Engineer
- Sales Development Representative
The company noted that the rise of employment with hybrid skillsets is due to the evolution of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. Core skills such as data analytics, cybersecurity, blockchain, digital commerce, and fintech are becoming primarily sought-after in order for the BPO industry to evolve.
Public and private sectors are also seeking talents in the field of technology to assist them in going digital. The startup scene in the Philippines is also a contributor to the demand for tech talent.
LinkedIn’s data also showed that while the demand for tech talent is growing, the supply is rather low. The network encouraged companies to upskill or reskill existing employees to provide more opportunities for them. Additionally, the report noted the top five skills for each of the top emerging jobs to help companies fill in the employment gaps.
