MediaTek has announced that it has partnered up with Intel, and will be launching a lineup of 5G chipsets called Dimensity. First in the lineup is the Dimensity 1000 5G SoC.
The Dimensity 1000 5G SoC is built on the 7nm process, featuring four ARM Cortex-A77 cores at 2.6 GHz, along with four Cortex A-55 cores. The Dimensity 1000 also supports dual 5G SIM technology, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 51., and is capable of up to 2.5 Gbps upload and up to 4.7 Gbps downloads over 5G. The chipset also supports up to 16GB LPDD4X RAM and QHD+ 90Hz display support. It also comes with a MediaTek AI processing unit APU 3.0.
As for image processing, the SoC has a 5-core ISP, supporting up to 80MP at 24 shots per second, multi-camera options such as a 32MP + 16MP dual-camera combo, video recording up to 4K at 60 fps, and support for multi-frame video HDR.

We chose the name Dimensity to highlight how our 5G solutions are driving new waves of innovation and experiences, much like the fabled fifth dimension.
MediaTek also divulged that the first Dimensity-powered smartphones will be launched in the market by Q1 of 2020.
