MediaTek Dimensity 720 with 5G now official

MediaTek has recently announced its latest 5G chipset, the Dimensity 720.

As part of the brand’s lineup of 5G-ready processors, the MediaTek Dimensity 720 will make 5G connectivity more accessible to consumers. The chipset is particularly made for mid-tier smartphones.

The Dimensity 720 combines advancements in the display, multimedia, imaging, and battery. It comes with two Arm Cortex-A76 2GHz cores and six Arm Cortex-A55 2GHz cores, paired with an Arm Mali G57 GPU. It features MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 technology, fast LPDDR4X memory, universal flash storage (UFS) 2.2, supports 90Hz displays, and MediaTek MiraVision HDR10+ for video streaming. It also has Voice Wakeup (VoW) for lessening battery use for always-on voice assistants, and dual-mic noise suppression.

It ships with MediaTek APU 3.0, an AI Processing Unit for precise AI camera functions, and supports up to single 64MP or 20+16MP dual cameras, and For better power efficiency, the processor features MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology.

Among its other connectivity features include two carrier aggregation (2CC CA), Voice over New Radio (VoNR), 5G and 4G dual SIM, and dual standby (DSDS).

The chipset is mainly designed for global networks with sub-6GHz in Asia, North America, and Europe.
