At CES 2020, MediaTek has introduced its Dimensity 800 chipset for premium mid-range smartphones.
The Dimensity 800 Series is an SoC built on a 7nm chip and comes with an integrated 5G modem. It features four Arm Cortex-A76 cores operating up to 2GHz, along with four Arm Cortex-A55, also operating up to 2GHz. The Dimensity 800 also supports FHD+ display up to 90Hz refresh rate, up to 64MP camera sensors, 32 + 16MP dual cameras or large multi-camera options, and includes AI camera options such as autofocus, autoexposure, auto white balance, noise reduction, AI HDR, and multi-frame 4K video HDR.
TL Lee, MediaTek’s head of the wireless business unit, stated:
MediaTek already launched its flagship 5G smartphone solution, the Dimensity 1000, and with the 800 series 5G chipset family, we are bringing 5G to the mid-tier and mass market. Everyone should have access to great technology. The Dimensity 800 Series will power the New Premium segment for 5G, bringing consumers flagship smartphone features and performance at midrange price points.
MediaTek also divulged that the first Dimensity 800-powered smartphones are expected to launch in the first half of 2020.
