MediaTek introduces its latest 5G chipset for mid-range smartphones, the Dimensity 800U.
It is an SoC built on a 7nm chip and comes with an integrated 5G modem. It features two Arm Cortex-A76 cores operating up to 2.4GHz, along with six Arm Cortex-A55 operating up to 2GHz. Compared to its predecessor, the Dimencsity 800U brings faster and more stable 5G connectivity. It features 5G dual standby with support to sub-6Ghz SA and NSA networks, as well as dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR), and 5G two carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA).
The Dimensity 800U also supports FHD+ display up to 120Hz refresh rate, up to 64MP quad camera sensors, support for the HDR10+ standard, HDR optimization for videos, enhancements for AI camera, voice on wakeup (VoW), and dual-mic noise reduction.
The chipset also has an integrated Arm Mali-G57 GPU, an independent AI processing unit (APU), and supports LPDDR4x RAM.
MediaTek did not disclose more details about its availability. However, the processor will be found most likely on future mid-range smartphones.
