MediaTek unveiled today what it calls its “next-generation automotive platform,” Dimensity Auto.
According to MediaTek, Dimensity Auto will offer a “comprehensive portfolio that includes Dimensity Auto Cockpit, Dimensity Auto Connect, Dimensity Auto Drive, and Dimensity Auto Components.”
“With the Dimensity Auto platform solutions, we are extending MediaTek’s technological advantages in the automotive segment to the next level,” said Corporate Senior Vice President and General Manager of CCM Business Group Jerry Yu.
“Our goal is to leverage decades of expertise across several categories in technology to deliver the smart life on wheels, as we work together with the world’s top automotive brands to create a more intuitive, immersive, safe, and comfortable driving experience,” he added.
According to chip manufacturer, Dimensity Auto Cockpit aims to be the world’s fastest smart cockpit in the world. They plan on integrating its chip manufacturing expertise into the cockpit and car infotainment space.
Meanwhile, Dimensity Auto Connect will be a service that MediaTek says “will help drivers stay consistently connected with the world around them” via their communication technology portfolio that includes 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, navigation, and Non-Terrestrial Network satellite communications.
In addition, Dimenstiy Auto Drive will focus on providing intelligent assist and autonomous driving solutions via MediaTeks’ AI Processing Units (APU).
Lastly, Dimensity Auto Components aims on providing reliable automotive-grade chipsets and stand-alone components for new generations of connected, intelligent vehicles respectively.
No concrete details or timelines were provided for the Dimensity Auto series of products from MediaTek but we’ll keep you updated once we know more.
