Meta banned 63,000 accounts of “Yahoo Boys”

“Yahoo Boys”, a Group of Nigerian Cybercriminals were banned from Meta platforms due to violating Dangerous Organizations and Individuals policy.

Meta has reportedly removed over 63,000 accounts linked to the said group, together with the coordinated network of 2,500 accounts, that has tried to victimize adult US Men users from getting involved in sextortion scams.

Sextortion (Sexual Extortion) Scam is an act done by blackmailing users, threatening to outspread the photos they hold on the internet.

This has successfully hampered the infamous scammers to extort a sum by using advanced technical systems and thorough investigation.

These Cybercriminals were found to have attempted exploiting minors which were referred to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Due to these online crimes, Meta disclosed that it had tightened messaging settings for users under 16 (under 18 in some countries) and displayed safety advisories to encourage careful behavior online in an effort to protect users, especially the youth.
