Meta will be introducing Messenger Shortcuts that allow users to do things like sending a message silently and finding GIFs while chatting with friends.
Two shortcuts that are already available according to Meta are the @everyone and /silent. @everyone enables the notification of everyone in the chat in order to get everyone’s attention.
Should users want to send a message without pinging the entire group, they would be able to utilize the /silent shortcut.
Other options and shortcuts like /pay will allow users to send or request money right from the Messenger chatbox but is only currently available in the US.
Lastly, type in /gif followed by a topic of a GIF that is being searched for showing some potential options to drop in the chat. The feature will soon be available on iOS along with /shrug and /tableflip which will drop the classic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻ emoticons.
