Meta Unveils Social Profiles for its Advanced AI Bots

In a significant leap towards blurring the lines between reality and virtuality, Meta 13 announced the rollout of 28 AIs on its popular messaging platforms – Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

The reveal, which took place during their Connect event last month, is part of a broader effort to introduce new AI experiences across its suite of apps and devices.

Users now have the option to follow these AIs on their respective Facebook and Instagram profiles, offering a unique blend of interaction that transcends standard human-social media engagement. A blend of technology from Meta’s Emu model will drive the content on these AI’s profiles, including some visually compelling images generated entirely by the AI.

In a move likely to generate buzz, many of the AIs are depicted using images of recognizable public figures.

Meta clarified that these likenesses represent the AI characters rather than the celebrities themselves. All AI-generated visuals will carry the hashtag #ImaginedWithAI and will feature a distinct watermark on the image’s lower left corner, ensuring transparency.

Those lucky enough to be a part of the initial beta product rollout in the U.S. will have the unique privilege of messaging these AIs directly via their social profiles. Direct interactions will be fueled by Meta’s advanced AI tech, ensuring real-time, dynamic responses.

Here is the complete list of AIs and their corresponding profiles to date:

The future, as it seems, is here.
