MSI Primo 81 lands for Php8,995

We first saw the MSI Primo 81 during Computex 2013 last June. This entry-level tablet takes on the iPad Mini design and form factor with Android Jellybean.

During the time we saw it at the MSI press launch, the build quality is very good and almost the same as the aluminum-clad iPad Mini.

Here’s the complete hardware specification we got from MSI that time, including the update to Jellybean.

MSI Primo 81 specs:
7.85-inch IPS LCD display @ 1024×768 pixels
Allwinner A31s 1.0GHz quad-core processor
PowreVR SGX544MP2 Graphics
1GB RAM
16GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD card
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Micro-USB with OTG (On-The-Go) Support
Micro-HDMI port
3MP rear camera
0.3MP front-facing camera
Li-Ion 3500mAh battery
Android 4.2 Jellybean
200.2 x 135 x 7.82mm (dimensions)
323 grams (weight)

We’re just not sure how that quad-core Allwinner processor will fare. Perhaps they’re as good as the quad-core from Mediatek. We spotted this one being sold at Villman for just Php8,994USD 153INR 12,993EUR 146CNY 1,116.

  1. No Bluetooth and GPRS? :/

  2. ok lng naman ung specs except dun sa brand ng processor, sana na nga lang kaya nito makipagcompete sa mediatek or even snapdragon

  3. no Bluetooth and GPS?

  4. Hello Yugatech,
I would like to suggest if it is possible for you to include a comparison of this and the Acer A1 when you eventually do a review as both tablets seem to be a good matchup to each other.
    Thank you

  5. 162 ppi hurts

  6. sus me, ok na sana except ang reso ng screen. @ that price, the better buy is the iFive X2.

  7. ithink (lang naman) mas OLpa ang Rockchip kesa sa allwinner!

    • i mean OK (na-miss-typed not Olpa

    • agreed…

    • sir kindly compare MSI Primo 81 to ME 8 Quadcore tab, mukang OEM kc ng MSI ung ME 8, mas muna pa po.. salamt.
i read your comment, seems like you have a great knowledge in this kind of tables.. :)

  9. No 3g capability

  10. was able to test and play with this gadget for a few hours. I was very impressed. screen is not the sharpest but it’s good enough. snappy and not laggy at all. more than 7 hours of web browsing over WiFi.
