NLEX Corporation announced that starting sometime this month, its annual repaving of the 79,063 sqm North Luzon Expressway and the 18,718 sqm of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway. The roadway stretches from Balintawak to Sta. Ines, and Tarlac to Tipo are set to be replaced in sections and have new asphalt put in, while the less damaged portions will receive normal patching up.
President and General manager of the NLEX Corporation J. Luigi Bautista said that these annual roadworks are to ensure a better road experience for commuters and drivers by giving them a smooth safe road surface.
Bautista also added that while they have frequent inspections and road repairs, the annual program is more comprehensive and will vastly improve road quality.
“Safety and convenience must go hand in hand in order to maintain a high level of customer experience. While we have frequent road inspections and repairs, this yearly program is more comprehensive and will vastly improve the quality of our roads for the benefit of thousands of motorists plying our expressways every day,” said Bautista, highlighting that “in doing our pavement repair program, we follow the ISO standards and ensure that we fulfill our quality, health and safety, and environmental responsibilities.”
In order to keep traffic flow in check and to lessen the possibilities of traffic delays, traffic and lane management will be implemented. Aside from the road repaving repairs, NLEX will also be strengthening the Candaba Viaduct, Pasig-Potrero Bridge, and San Matias Bridge.
The planned completion of the road repaving repairs is set for sometime in the second quarter of this year.
