Nokia has filed a number of complaints in Germany and the US against Apple for infringing a slew of Nokia-owned patents.
According to the case filed, Apple agreed to license some of Nokia patents in 2011, but they declined offers since then. The suit was filed in Dusseldorf, Mannheim and Munich in Germany and the Eastern District of Texas. 32 patents are involved here and it pretty much covers display tech, chipsets, and video encoding.
Again, this is not the first time Apple was challenged in the court for infringing. They have won a few and lost to some. We’ll see how this one will turn out next year. As for Nokia, it seems like they are massively preparing for a comeback.
