Nokia XR21 launched with IP69K certification

Before the smartphone era, Nokia phones had a reputation for being very tough. Now, the company bringing it back the same ruggedness and toughness for the smartphone era with the new Nokia XR21 .

The Nokia XR21 is the successor to the outgoing already durable XR20 but takes it one step further. Nokia says the XR21 features MIL-STD-810H and IP69K certification, which is the highest IP protection rating for water and dust. Compared to the IP68, IP69K rating means the phone can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature jets of water.

On top of the MIL-STD-810H certification and IP69K rating, the Nokia XR21 also packs Gorilla Glass Victus protection. There’s even a one-year free screen replacement warranty in certain countries such as Europe. Nokia even claims it can withstand a drop test of 1.8 meters.

As for the specs, it’s not a high-end model. The Nokia XR21 comes with the typical mid-range smartphone gear including a Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The screen on the Nokia XR21 measures 6.49 inches with a 1080 x 2400 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate with a 16MP selfie camera. At the back, there are two cameras – a 64MP main and a 8MP ultrawide. Powering the XR21 is a 4,800mAh battery pack with 33W fast charging. Android 12 comes standard, but Nokia says it comes with 3 years of OS upgrades.

The Nokia XR21 will go on sale in the UK starting this May for £499.99 or around PHP 34,735 and will be available in two colors – Midnight Black and Pine Green.
