According to a report, the download speed experience in Manila is 73% than that of Cebu, Davao, Angeles, and other urban zones.
In the research conducted by OpenSignal, it was found that the average overall download speed of 11.6 Mbps in Manila was 47% faster in contrast to Angeles’ 7.9 Mbps. Davao and Cebu have 6.7 and 6.6 Mbps respectively, making Manila’s speed 73% faster than both cities, while Manila edged out Cagayan de Oro’s 6.4 Mbps by 81%.
As for upload speed experience, the report stated that the difference between the largest cities wasn’t huge, but it was still significant. Manila once again trumped with its overall speed of 3.4 Mbps, making it 26% higher than Angeles and at least 36% higher than that of Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro.
OpenSignal stated that while Manila is a cultural, economic, and political hub, Angeles, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Davao are also highly important regional business hubs that cater as the administrative center of their regions. OpenSignal added that “Operators typically focus their infrastructure and capacity upgrades in a country’s largest cities as it allows them to target a large portion of their potential customer base in relatively compact areas. Also as wealthy and tech-savvy consumers are generally concentrated in cities, they make excellent candidates for the introduction of new services and technologies.”
