OPPO holds on to their spot in the Top 10 for Global Intellectual Property (IP) Rankings 19 for five years straight.

The company secured ninth place globally for patents filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in 2023, as per the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). In the present day, the Chinese tech giant continues to drive numbers to keep their spot.

By the end of the first quarter of 2024, OPPO filed more than 101,000 patent applications with more than 55,000 patents granted.

‘At OPPO, we believe that technological innovation and intellectual property protection are fundamental to our company’s past, present, and future success. Through our proactive defense IP strategy and commitment to fostering a healthy long-term IP ecosystem, we are fully committed to supporting the future of innovation as envisioned in the OPPO Innovation and Intellectual Property White Paper’, said OPPO’s Chief Intellectual Property Officer Feng Ying.

The tech titan has been focused on the development of image processing, computer vision, speech technology, natural language processing, and machine learning for years. Presently, OPPO has set its sights on artificial intelligence (AI) development and widespread integration for their smartphones.

But recently, the company introduced about a hundred AI-centric features on their latest Find X7 11 series. They’re also working on generative AI features, integrating tools like AI Eraser and AI Magic Studio into their products.

OPPO has already filed a total of 5,399 AI-relative patents worldwide as of March 2024.
