The Philippines targets to release standard digitized vaccine certificates to facilitate safe travels during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is currently in the process of developing the digital solution that would present the COVID-19 vaccination status of an individual, according to Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje.
“By the end of August or beginning of September, we hope we can already start automation. We will have the DICT issue the digitized vaccine certificate,” said Cabotaje, Chair of the National Vaccination Operations Center, in a report by ABS-CBN News.
Cabotaje mentioned that they plan to provide people with vaccination certificates so it will be easier for them when they travel abroad. This is also to make a standard vaccine certificate.
However, Cabotaje did not state whether the digital certificate will be a QR code. Hence, more details about the digitized vaccine certificates are expected to be released soon.
