PLDT Home, through PLDT Smart Foundation (PSF), recently turned over 1,000 Home WiFi Prepaid units to the Department of Education for the use of public school teachers nationwide.
According to PLDT, this is to enable public school teachers to experience faster and more reliable internet connections as they conduct online classes. The said Wi-FI units will be distributed to DepEd Divisions of Tarlac, Bataan, Isabela, Pangasinan, Misamis Oriental, Davao Del Norte, Cebu, and Maguindanao among other divisions nationwide.
“We are happy to assist the DepEd and its teachers in conducting online classes and facilitating learning among students amid the restrictions brought about by the current pandemic. Our support to the country’s dedicated and hardworking teachers has always been profound. Our gratitude to them, immeasurable. The PLDT Home WiFi Prepaid will definitely help them manage digital education and reliably connect with their students,” said PSF President Ma. Esther O. Santos.
The turnover was attended by DepEd USec. Tonisito Umali, PSF President Ma. Esther O. Santos together with her team and PLDT Home’s Kristine Rementilla.
“We really appreciate these donations from PLDT. Thank you! The Home WiFi Prepaid will be a great help to teachers in their online classes. These units will be distributed to them as soon as possible and we will immediately send to PLDT the list of schools actually receiving the units,” said DepEd Undersecretary Tonisito Umali.
Meanwhile, more load cards and WiFi units are expected to be donated in the coming months to other public schools.
