PLDT has announced that it will expand the reach of its fiber-powered fixed line network or its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service by about 80% to 4.4 million homes passed by the end of 2017.
PLDT’s fiber network covered 2.5 million homes in the country as of late last year. For 2017, the telco plans to add 1.9 million homes to the market that can be served.
Among the areas now covered by fiber-powered internet connections are Laoag, Baguio City, Vigan City, and Tuguegarao in Northern Luzon; Tarlac, Cabanatuan City, and San Fernando, Pampanga in Central Luzon; and, Puerto Princesa and El Nido in Palawan, down to the Bicol region cities of Sorsogon, Naga, and Legazpi.
“We are stepping up our efforts to deliver unrivaled internet services to more homes in various parts of the country, from the Ilocos provinces in the North to Zamboanga in the South,” said PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

Goal is to keep subscribers on legacy infrastructure as long as possible so we can ask them to pay more and deliver less (Blame it to the infrastructure.)We live in the middle of Metro Manila and the only time I see PLDT Fiber is when their van passes by.

These so called experts in communication obviously are contented with their sub standard services.
They advertise and promise the best service and these are just pa-asa advertisements. Why don’t they maximize the services of what they have right now instead fooling people just for the sake of marketing.
When will they ever learn…..

Mauunahan sila ng mga small cable operators na may telco franchise. They are starting to deploy wireless Internet using 5ghz and 60ghz wireless in areas where they don’t have fiber or cable facility.
