PLDT, through its PLDT Enterprise arm, has just introduced an emergency dispatch system that’ll be sold to local government units (LGUs) and other large-scale corporations.
Dubbed as the Smart SOS Dispatch, the system is a mobile solutions package that utilizes Smart’s network along with Genaker IP-based PTT (Push To Talk) and NowForce emergency response apps using a rugged IP68-certified Android device.
“The 911 emergency response system of the United States has always been a model to emulate with regards to security and public safety. The technology to make the same happen in the Philippines is available through mobility and the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Smart SOS Dispatch is designed to do just that,” says Jovy Hernandez, FVP and Head of Enterprise groups at PLDT and Smart.
The SOS Dispatch is said to be designed with the Philippine 911 system to ensure compatibility especially with large corporate communities (i.e. industrial zones, commercial areas), organizations, and most importantly, LGUs. The City of Bacoor in Cavite and the province of Ilocos Norte will be the first to try it out.
For LGUs, there’s an exclusive package at only Php3,500USD 60INR 5,056EUR 57CNY 434 per month for each device which already includes a ruggedized Android Device, Genaker PTT and NowForce applications, Unlimited Calling Circle and allocated SMS for all networks for 30 months.

Notafan says:
God forbid this service becomi mainstream. Emergency services will be routed to their not even widest and unreliable network.
1. Lte in the center of the metro is not even reliable and sporadic despite their claim otherwise. 3G has more than 50 percent no data received. 3. Edge data you would have better luck Throwing a bottle in the ocean to get help. 4. System cannot even deliver billing on time.
I’m not a fan of globe and am just a prepaid user because I have been disappointed with them in the past but when it comes to delivery of data and voice. Globe has the edge.
