We’ve received a tip that well-known porn sites are already blocked by their Internet Service Providers (ISP) so we checked it ourselves. It turns out to be true.
There’s no formal announcement from any major news agency for now or any word from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), but if you could recall back in 2014 when the government issued a memorandum to local ISPs to ban the access to pornographic site in accordance with Republic Act No. 9775 which lists child pornography as a criminal act, this could be it.
“This website has been ordered blocked under authority of the Philippine Government pursuant to Republic Act 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Law.”
Just last week, the Philippines ranked 14th worldwide (3rd in Asia and the only South East Asian country) among the top countries that visit Pornhub, a popular porn website. Not only that, the Philippines is holding the first place position when it comes to average time spent on the website.
There’s no confirmed list of blocked websites so far and it still varies depending on your ISP. We’ll update when we get more info.
Update: (6:56 PM 1/14/17) You won’t be able to access popular porn sites, including Pornhub, if you’re on Smart’s network.
Update: Here’s an explanation why these porn sites were blocked 74.
YugaTech.com is the largest and longest-running technology site in the Philippines. Originally established in October 2002, the site was transformed into a full-fledged technology platform in 2005.

PornHub is banned and it has no child porno as far as I know.
Meanwhile exhentai is there and I’m still downloading loli doujins.
NebulaGod says:
It seems like this is another “straw man”. When things don’t add up, follow the money.
SMART Co loses to their competitors for blocking any site na hindi forbidden sa iba. I’m happy with Globe pero as soon as they start giving me crap about childporn on any site, ng walang detalyadong report kung bakit at paano eh wag ng mag internet kahit saan.
People will touch themselves with or without the help of visual stimulation. Mass manipulation is really more obscene than porn.

Redball says:
Anyone to challenge this law on court?
sureito says:
Sir Abe, its not the child porn that will be challenged but how they banned the site where in there was no child involved on the site being shown.
Abe Olandres says:
Based on our research, there were some (less than 0.01%) content that were questionably minors. These were user-uploaded content.
Abe Olandres says:
No one wants to challenge a law against child porn.

kuru says:
i dont even use porn hub too many adds to many worms
Rexus says:
This is too arbitrary that whatever the govt is doing here does not solve child pornography law at all. All wrong target. Anybody is aware that not all videos and pictures found on mainstream sites like Pornhub involve children unless stated otherwise. What the government should look up are websites from the deep web where local and foreign pedophiles send and receive their sick kiddie porn there and use them as their online hub. Cough, Daisy Destruction, cough.
Aikawa says:
Out of curiosity while reading your comment, I searched Daisy Destruction. I regret it.
Ricardo Dee says:
What worries me though is yung mga sites na dapat di blocked ay mablocked wrongly or accidentally (like what happened in other countries like UK or China). This can be used as a form to censor free speech but that’s another issue.
Another thing that baffles me is RA 9775 or Anti-Child Pornography Law (http://www.lawphil.net/statutes/repacts/ra2009/ra_9775_2009.html) is only limited to child porn content and based on a quick research I did eh walang child porn content (dapat) yung mga afformentioned websites blocked kasi may law against child porn where those web sites are operated or hosted.
In fact, most child porn content I know ay nahahanap sa dark web kaya andun karamihan ng entrapment operations sa US para sa mga lumalabag ng law against child pornography.
Joshua says:
Correct, legitimate porn sites filter out illegal content and report user IPs that search for illegal content to the authorities.
Bagal net Pinas says:
I can access porn sites.
Miss Call says:
Thanks DU30!
Miss BoBo says:
Deez Nutz says:
4 hours after this article was published may access parin ako.
Banana says:
Banning legit pornsites will never cure child pornography! Pornsites like youjizz, porn hub and other big porn websites knows the law regarding child prostitution/pornography and if they did violate Republic Act 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Law then they should have been out of commission way before this law was passed!
