The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that beginning April this year, provincial buses are no longer allowed on EDSA.
From a report by 24 Oras, commuters coming from the north will have to disembark at an integrated bus terminal being built in Valenzuela. From there, they can transfer to buses going to their destination in Metro Manila.
For commuters coming from the south, an integrated terminal in Santa Rosa, Laguna will be their disembarking point and transfer to city buses from there.
The MMDA also added that 46 provincial bus terminals along EDSA would eventually be shut down. Fences will also be implemented along EDSA, except for designated loading and unloading areas.

Finally. I’ve been waiting for this. We have too many buses in EDSA , and bus drivers have no discipline. They literally cause most of the traffic in EDSA, so a reduction in the number of buses and bus terminals along EDSA will improve the traffic conditions. Let us not forget that bus drivers love to stop almost anywhere just to load or unload passengers, even right in the middle of the road.

So paano na ung maraming dala pauwi or galing ng probinsya? Magko-commute pa sila ng malayo from sta.rosa to pasay.
This is a really dumb plan because:
1. Technology. Buses are far more efficient than cars using measures such as: Passengers per unit roadspace occupied, passenger km per liter of fuel etc.
2. Supply and Demand Analysis. There will be no change in congestion because all roadspace released from buses will very soon be filled by cars which are currently detered by congestion.
3. The plan will cause much longer travel times and extra expense for most provincial bus passengers, with very limited benefits to cars (which already occupy most of EDSA.
