Samsung announces new OLED Gaming Monitors for CES 2024 -Expands Odyssey Lineup

Samsung Electronics has revealed its latest lineup of gaming monitors, the Odyssey OLED series, at CES® 2024, the renowned tech event hosted by the Consumer Technology Association® (CTA) in Las Vegas. The new models, including the Odyssey OLED G9, G8, and G6, promise enhanced performance and visual clarity for gamers.

Samsung Odyssey OLED

The Odyssey OLED G9 boasts a 49” curved ultra-wide display with DQHD resolution, a 32:9 aspect ratio, and various upgraded features. Meanwhile, the Odyssey OLED G8 introduces the first flat 32” Samsung OLED gaming monitor with 4K UHD resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Both monitors share a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms GTG response time. The Odyssey OLED G6, a 27” QHD monitor, supports a 16:9 aspect ratio, 360Hz refresh rate, and 0.03ms GTG response time.

Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, highlighted the evolving diversity in gaming platforms and expressed how the new OLED Odyssey gaming monitors will provide gamers with immersive environments and innovative technology tailored to their evolving needs.

All three models feature OLED Glare-Free technology to minimize light reflections, ensuring a consistent viewing experience in various lighting conditions. With VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 400, these monitors deliver detailed images and vivid colors, supporting AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro for low-latency HDR gaming.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8

The monitors offer comprehensive connectivity options, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub, and a DisplayPort 1.4 input. They also feature VESA mount compatibility and a height-adjustable stand for improved comfort and convenience.

The Odyssey OLED G9 and G8 introduce Multi Control, enabling seamless device connectivity for enhanced multi-device experiences. Additionally, they include the Samsung SmartThings Hub for IoT device control.

These monitors serve as all-in-one entertainment hubs, equipped with the Samsung Smart TV platform and Samsung Gaming Hub, providing access to streaming and cloud gaming services without the need for downloads or a PC/console.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G6

For the first time, Samsung has introduced flat OLED options and a 16:9 aspect ratio to the Odyssey OLED G8 and G6. The monitors feature a slim metal design and Core Lighting+ for ambient lighting, enhancing the gaming experience. With these innovations, Samsung aims to strengthen its OLED lineup and maintain its leadership in the gaming monitor market, complementing the advancements of the Odyssey Neo series.
