Samsung Electronics has announced a new chipset designed for Internet of Things (IoT) devices with short-range communications.
Unlike the previously introduced Exynos i T200 for Wi-Fi and Exynos i S111 for long-range narrow-band (NB) communications, the Exynos iT100 is for devices with short-range communications, allowing Samsung to cover a wider gamut of connectivity for today’s IoT devices.
It is based on a power-efficient 28nm process technology and supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0 and Zigbee 3.0. It can even endure extreme temperatures as low as -40°C and up to 125°C.
The Samsung Exynos i T100 will power IoT devices that automate and control environments such as smart lighting, home security and monitoring, temperature control, fire and gas detectors, and fitness wearables.
The Exynos i T100 is currently sampling.
