The Samsung Pro Plus and Evo Plus microSD cards with capacities up to 1TB have been unveiled. This confirms news from a previous article where we noted that these were in mass production around March.
The new cards use a 28nm controller, which is notably power efficient in comparison to 55m controllers in older cards. It even supports Low Density Parity Check error connection codes, which improves durability for write-and-erase cycles.
Additionally, the cards’ usage of 8th gen V-NAND technology attributes to its performance enhancement.
The Samsung Pro Plus cards provide up to 180MB/s sequential read and up to 130MB/s sequential write speeds.
Meanwhile, the Evo Plus cards have 160MB/s for reading and 120MB/s for speeds. It also has an extra 64GB variant that provides 60MB/s for reading and 20MB/s for writing speeds.
The cards are rated A2 for application storage, U3 and V30 for general file storage, and 4K video recording.
The cards come in several sizes, consisting of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options with 10-year limited warranties. These are designed to withstand water, high temperatures, X-rays, and magnetic fields.
The new cards from Samsung are now available globally. The Samsung Pro Plus starts at USD 25 (~PHP 1.4K) for 128GB. This goes up to USD 154 (~PHP 9K) for the 1TB variant.
As for the Evo Plus, it starts at USD 13 (~PHP 800) for a 64GB card. It goes up to USD 132 (~PHP 7.7K) for its 1TB storage option as well.
