Ahead of CES 2025, Samsung has unveiled a slate of new monitors, including a mix of high-performance gaming and entertainment-focused models.
The standout offerings in the lineup? Two new Odyssey G-series gaming monitors that are said to debut the world’s first QD-OLED panels with a jaw-dropping 500Hz refresh rate.
The Odyssey G6 and G8 are designed for ultra-fast gaming experiences, with the G6 boasting buttery smooth 500Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the Odyssey G8 (G81SF) offers a more traditional 4K OLED experience but still hits a stellar 240Hz refresh rate, all within a 27-inch display.
Notably, while 500Hz monitors aren’t new to the market, Samsung’s G6 is the first to integrate QD-OLED technology, promising near-instantaneous 0.03ms response times — a game-changer for competitive play.
Both the G6 and G8 support AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia’s G-Sync Compatible technologies, as well as HDR 400 True Black, ensuring rich colors and contrast for compatible games and media.
Also coming to CES is Samsung’s bold foray into 3D gaming with the Odyssey 3D G90XF. This display introduces a glasses-free 3D experience, powered by a new lenticular lens.
With built-in AI processing, the G90XF can even convert 2D content into 3D, offering a unique twist on traditional 3D displays.
Finally, Samsung is doubling down on AI with the new Smart Monitor M9, a 32-inch 4K OLED display that boasts “industry-first” AI features.
The M9 is geared toward enhancing entertainment and productivity with two key AI functions: AI Picture Optimizer and AI Upscaling Pro.
The former automatically adjusts the monitor’s settings based on the content being displayed, ensuring the best possible visual experience, while the latter optimizes video quality.
As with Samsung’s other OLED monitors, the M9 supports VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, ensuring vibrant colors and deep contrast.
Aside from Samsung, other brands like ASUS and MSI also annonced 4K OLED monitors that use the same Samsung Display fourth generation QD-OLED technology.
