Smart has recently announced the commercial deployment of its 5G service in the Philippines in select areas in Metro Manila.
According to a report from GMA News, the initial 5G deployment will be available to Smart Signature, Infinity, and other Smart Postpaid subscribers using Smart-certified smartphones with 5G-activated SIM cards who are located in the key areas of Metro Manila. These include Makati Central Business District, Bonifacio Global City CBD, Araneta City, SM Megamall, and Mall of Asia Bay.
Apart from the said areas, the said subscribers may enjoy 5G connectivity in key high-traffic areas such as North Avenue in Quezon City, Taft Avenue in Manila City, Ortigas Central Business District, and Clark Green City in Pampanga.
Smart will also launch Smart-certified 5G smartphones from Huawei, Samsung, realme, and Vivo under Smart Signature postpaid plans in select Smart Stores.
“The launch of Smart’s 5G service enables the Philippines to level up and join the ranks of countries utilizing the next generation of mobile technology,” said PLDT chief revenue officer and Smart president and chief executive officer Alfredo Panlilio.
Smart’s 5G service will go live on July 30, 2020.
