Smart Communications is at the forefront of a steady rise in average monthly 5G data traffic in 2023. This is hugely credited through their award-winning 5G mobile network.
Smart’s average quarterly 5G data traffic nearly doubled in 2023, increasing by 95% in comparison to 2022. For the last quarter of 2023 alone, Smart recorded a 16% increase in monthly data traffic on their 5G network.
This surge was driven by the introduction of new, affordable 5G devices and the promotion of Smart’s postpaid Unli5G Signature plans.
“As we strive to continue delivering the best mobile experience to our customers, we also ensure that our offers are value-packed and relevant, and that we are also able to make the latest handsets more accessible for our subscribers to make it easier for them to upgrade,” said Head of Smart Consumer Wireless Business Alex O. Caeg.
This consistent rise in data usage is also supported by Smart’s mobile network, which is recognized by Opensignal for delivering the country’s Best 5G Coverage Experience.
Today, Smart’s mobile network covers 97% of the population, remaining part of the Philippines’ largest integrated network. This is inclusive of PLDT’s 1.1-million-kilometer fiber infrastructure.
“Coverage is key to 5G adoption. Our latest citation from Opensignal is a testament to Smart’s commitment to expand the reach of our network across the Philippines. These efforts are also bearing fruit, as can be seen in the increase in our 5G data traffic, which has practically doubled,” Caeg added.
The telecom company’s initiatives aim to deliver quality mobile products and services. Smart is also aligned with PLDT Group’s endeavors to narrow the digital divide to provide connectivity to all Filipinos.
The two entities work to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG No. 9–Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Their efforts continue to reinforce the group’s support for the government’s overall digitalization movement.
