San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has officially completed the 17.93-km stretch of the Skyway 3 project, linking Southern and Northern Luzon.
The project was completed ahead of the original October 31 schedule that the company announced after the pandemic delays.
āIām happy to announce that the whole structure of Skyway 3 is now complete. With this, Skyway 2 in Buendia is now officially extended all the way to the North Luzon Expressway. After many challenges this project faced in previous years, the dream of connecting north and south and providing an alternative to EDSA is now a reality,ā San Miguel Corporation (SMC) president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang said.
Travel time from SLEX to NLEX will now only take 20 minutes, which previously takes around three hours. Magallanes to Balintawak will take about 15 minutes, while Balintawak to NAIA will take 15 minutes, and Valenzuela to Makati in just 10 minutes.
However, Ang stated that the expressway will not be opened to the public yet due to finishing works, including proper curing of asphalt that has been delayed because of the continuous and heavy rainfall.
Ang also mentioned that the company doubled its efforts to fulfill its major infrastructure projects with the least delays. The company is also eyeing to accomplish the northbound section of the Skyway Extension that will provide additional lanes and connect the South Luzon Expressway to Skyway near Susanna Heights and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway before the end of 2020.
Ang has pledged to continue all its major infrastructure projects despite the economic slowdown due to the pandemic to generate jobs and help the economy recover.
