Sony has unveiled its new Bravia TV lineup for 2024, doubling down on mini-LED with the flagship Bravia 9, offering a compelling OLED option in the Bravia 8, and keeping things affordable with the entry-level Bravia 3.

This year’s crown jewel boasts a massive brightness leap (50% more than last year’s X95L) thanks to a next-gen mini-LED backlight. Sony claims it delivers both highlights and deeper blacks, blurring the lines between mini-LED and OLED. It comes in 65-, 75-, and 85-inch sizes, with prices starting at a premium USD 3,299.
Along with Dolby Vision support, the Bravia 9 packs all the gaming essentials: 4K 120Hz refresh rate, VRR for smooth visuals, and auto low-latency mode (ALLM) for lightning-fast response times. However, only two HDMI 2.1 ports might leave some power users wanting more.
The mid-range Bravia 8 takes the OLED route with a slimmer W-OLED panel, offering a 10% brightness boost over its predecessor and putting it in the same ballpark as LG’s C4.
It shares many features with the Bravia 9, including Dolby Vision/Atmos support, gaming features, and image calibration modes. Prices start at USD 1,999 for the 55-inch model.
The Bravia 7 is Sony’s answer to affordable mini-LED. Considered the successor to the X90L, it boasts a whopping 790% brightness improvement and comes in various sizes, starting at USD 1,899.
While it shares many features with the Bravia 9, it trades some peak brightness and backlight dimming zones for a more attractive price tag.
The Bravia 3 caters to those who prioritize affordability over cutting-edge tech. This LED TV comes in a wide range of sizes, with prices starting at a wallet friendly USD 599.
Despite its entry-level status, it surprisingly supports Dolby Vision and Atmos, and even includes image calibration modes found on higher-end models. However, it sacrifices high refresh rates and VRR but still includes ALLM for improved game experience.
Here’s a quick pricing breakdown:
Bravia 9 (Mini-LED): starts at USD 3,299 (65-inch)
Bravia 8 (OLED): starts at USD 1,999 (55-inch)
Bravia 7 (Mini-LED): starts at USD 1,899 (55-inch)
Bravia 3 (LED): starts at USD 599 (43-inch)
