Spotify introduces the new Spotify Mixes, featuring personalized playlists inspired by the platform’s Daily Mix.
Daily Mix is the platform’s popular personalized playlist among its users. The music streaming platform now introduces the Spotify Mixes with three new mix categories: artist mix, genre mix, and decade mix. As per Spotify, these mixes are based on the users’ choice of music while offering a new opportunity for discovery.
“There isn’t just one Spotify experience. There are actually more like 345 million different Spotify experiences—one for each listener. Every day, half a trillion events—whether they are searches, listens, likes, or countless other actions—take place on Spotify, powering and guiding our machine learning system. This gives us the ability to drive discovery in a way that audio has never seen before,” said Spotify’s Chief R&D Officer, Gustav Soderstrom.
Each mix category will have several playlists featuring artists, genres, and decades users often listen to. Each mix is created based on the users’ listening habits and the artists, genres, and decades they listen to most. According to Spotify, these are rooted in familiarity, meaning users won’t only hear their favorite artists but also favorite songs from those artists. The platform also adds in songs users might love by filling in music users has on repeat alongside some fresh picks. Additionally, each mix updates frequently to enable users to discover something new.
Spotify Mixes is rolling out to Free and Premium users globally. Spotify Mixes can be found within “Search” in the “Made For You” hub.
