Spotify recently rolls out its standalone app for children, Spotify Kids, in the US, Canada, and France. Launching its beta version in Ireland late last year, the app grants parental controls in playing music on their children’s devices without affecting the algorithm for the service.
Developed for children, the Spotify Kids remains to offer ad-free music where users can explore kid-friendly curated playlists, soundtracks, and stories. The audio content from the app is exclusively handpicked by Spotify editors, in partnership with KIDZ BOP, Disney Music Group, and Nickelodeon.
New features on the Spotify Kids include an expanded music library with over 8,000 songs to listen to, playlists ranging from lullabies to official movie soundtracks and pop music, and classic audiobooks including fairytales and stories from the Disney Music Group. Moreover, the app now has more educational content, teaching children math, science, reading, and proper hygiene. It also offers further parental controls to monitor and select what should and should not be playing on their child’s mobile devices.
For the US, Spotify Kids offers more diverse content, including pop culture tunes from animated movies, and added playlists under the Country, Christian, Motown, Soul Dance, and Spanish genres.
Compatible in both iOS and Android devices, the Spotify Kids is free and exclusively available on the Spotify Premium Family plan. New Premium subscribers can upgrade their account to Premium Family for a month without additional charge.
