The Bored Ape Yacht Club hype train just keeps rolling with Coinbase set to produce a three-part series called the “The Degen Trilogy”.
The animated short film series is being created with the approval of Yuga Labs, the Bored Ape Yach Club’s parent company. The series will feature characters based on the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). The BAYC is one of the most prolific and highly valued NFTs nowadays with 10,000 bored-looking ape NFTs, a total of USD 3.2 billion in market trading volume, with Notable celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Stephen Curry, and many more being owners of BAYC Apes.
This comes as news with Ape Coin being recently launched as the governance token of the BAYC. The first of the three-part series is set to debut in June and tie in with the launch of Coinbase’s NFT Marketplace as you’ll need to have a Coinbase wallet to view the movies.
What’s neat about the film is that it is keeping with the trend of decentralization by having BAYC holders able to audition and potentially feature their own BAYC NFTs in the films. With Coinbase requesting owners to create a backstory for their own Apes and with lucky owners whose BAYC Ape selected receiving a $10,000 licensing fee paid in either Bitcoin or Ape Coin.
