U.S. President Donald Trump announced that U.S. companies are now allowed to sell their equipment to Huawei.
The announcement came following the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan. In a report by Bloomberg, Trump said that U.S. companies can sell their equipment to Huawei but with some limitations.
“U.S. companies can sell their equipment to Huawei,” Trump said. “We’re talking about equipment where there’s no great national security problem with it.”
Trump met with China’s President Xi Jinping met at the summit and discussed Huawei as part of their talks. The two leaders have agreed to pause the trade war between their countries.
Last month, Huawei was blacklisted by the U.S. government which affected not only Huawei and its products but other tech companies as well. The lifting on the restrictions would allow Huawei to continue with its business.
