Twitter is reportedly testing out a way for users to untag themselves in conversations or threads they don’t want to be a part of.

The screenshot seen from Jane Manchun Wong on Twitter is of a new feature that states, “Leave this conversation.” As seen on the screenshot, this feature allows usernames to be untagged from a Twitter conversation, preventing people from mentioning them in the thread again, as well as to cease notifications about it.
The feature is separate from muting the conversation which is currently an available option that they have now. Additionally, once you leave the thread, the Twitter handle will remain as plain text rather than linking it to your account.
If someone @ you in a Tweet and you left the conversation, the @ mention link will become just text
