Vivo has unveiled its newest concept smartphone, the Vivo APEX 2020.
The APEX 2020 is a 5G smartphone that has an AMOLED 120-degree FullView Edgeless Display, measuring at 6.45-inches and has a pixel resolution of 2330 x 1080. Because of its curved display, the smartphone removes side edges and bezels, delivering an almost full-screen experience. The device utilizes virtual pressure-sensing buttons instead of physical buttons. Under the hood, the device comes with a Snapdragon 865 chipset, 12GB RAM, 256GB of storage, and runs on Android 10.
As for cameras, Vivo has integrated the APEX 2020 with a 16MP in-display camera. The brand describes that it was able to achieve this feat through “an increased the light transmittance of the screen right above the front camera to 6 times 1 of the other part of the screen, and effectively reduces optical interference, diffraction, and stray flashes through a series of algorithm optimizations to increase the photography quality.” The 16MP front snapper also features a 4-in-1 super-pixel photosensitive chip.
Rear-wise, the APEX 2020 comes with what Vivo dubs as a “continuous optical zoom” lens, stating that the APEX 2020 “can achieve continuous optical zoom under high magnifications between 5x-7.5x and produce images in high resolution and quality rather than filling focal lengths through digital magnification.”
One of the APEX 2020’s highlights is its gimbal-like 48MP primary camera on the rear. Vivo claims that the gimbal-like camera offers optical stabilization in the front-back and left-right inclined directions with enhanced performance. Additionally, it also “reduces blurring caused by a shaky hand, producing videos with smoothness.” Thanks to stable handheld shooting, the APEX 2020 also has a great capacity for night photography.
The Vivo APEX 2020 also has 60W wireless fast charging. Vivo has also mentioned that the brand’s Wireless Super FlashCharge 60W can charge a 2,000mAh battery in only 20 minutes.
Other features of the APEX 2020 include a 3rd Generation Screen SoundCasting Technology, Instant Photobomb Removal, and Voice Tracking Auto-Focus.
