VIVO has officially unveiled the APEX 2019 concept smartphone — a hole-less device possessing unique features for this year’s iteration.
The new APEX ups the in-display fingerprint scanning game by covering the whole display compared to its predecessor. This was said to be possible by their own Fingerprint Light function, which enables the device to read more accurate fingerprints by lighting up the pixels close to the area where the finger will lay upon. The new phone is also the company’s first to sport 5G right out of the box with Qualcomm’s X50 modem, and the headphone jack and the USB port are replaced by a MagPort, a magnetic power connector which enables both charging and data transfer to the device.
The device is also touted to feature a Super Unibody casing, which eliminates the physical buttons and adapting instead a Touch Sense technology to identify functions through pressure sensing in the capacitive display. The new design also eliminates the need for a speaker grille as they decided to implement a Body SoundCasting technology that produces sound through screen vibration, similar to what Xiaomi had first done with the Mi Mix series of phones.
