WeTransfer has finally extended their link expiration period, making them available for up to 30 days in their mobile app.
The platform has been used to send large files, and came with the pain of needing to do so immediately. It took a while, but the complaints finally got to them.
Now, WeTransfer has come through and provided solutions, even joking about it in an X post. It poked fun at public apologies that addressed serious offenses. However, the platform did apologize for letting links expire as fast as they did.
They also mentioned that they’re working towards adding means for users to maintain the same links without re-uploading files. I have to note that links will only last up to three (3) days by default.
Free users can manually set the expiry date to seven (7) days at most. However, those with paid subscriptions to the service can keep their links up for up to thirty (30) days.
WeTransfer didn’t make this clear in their post, which could be an honest wording error. Some users misunderstood the new change, and the company had to clarify further to explain the new policy.
Nonetheless, it’s an appreciated and welcome change. This is especially true for users who can’t find the time to download files right away during a work day.
