Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 11 will start to become available on October 5. It will roll out as a free upgrade to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11.
According to the company, new eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first. The Windows 11 upgrade will then roll out to in-market devices “based on intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of device and other factors.”
Those who have a Windows 10 PC eligible for the upgrade will be notified when the update is available. Users may also check if Windows 11 is ready for their device by going to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates*.
Microsoft targets to offer the free upgrade to Windows 11 to all eligible devices by mid-2022.
