Previously, downloading videos from X (formerly Twitter) was a hassle. Users either had to opt for a third-party site to download or record their screens. Now, Elon Musk just announced that paying users can now download videos natively within the app, making the process much easier.
This feature is exclusive to paying users of X Blue. Formerly Twitter Blue, this subscription grants users a verified checkmark at a cost.
In a post, dated August 3, Musk explained simple steps to download video content on the platform. “Tap the “…” [ellipsis icon] on upper right when video is in full screen mode.
“We will soon allow this simply by tapping & holding on a video just like you download a picture,” Musk added.
However, there are still some limitations. It is up to the creator’s discretion whether to allow or disallow downloading of their content. Furthermore, the feature is currently unavailable on X’s web version, but it is now live for Android and iOS platforms.
According to a support page (that still uses the “twitter” domain), users can now hide checkmarks that comes with their subscription.
“As a subscriber, you can choose to hide your checkmark on your account. The checkmark will be hidden on your profile and posts. The checkmark may still appear in some places and some features could still reveal you have an active subscription. Some features may not be available while your checkmark is hidden. We will continue to evolve this feature to make it better for you,” the document stated.
The company, however, did not provide details on which features may reveal a user’s active subscription. Nor which features may not be available when the checkmark is hidden.
X’s subscription launched 11 in March 2023 providing more features and of course, the verified checkmark. Slew of features include edit tweet (now just called “post”), longer video uploads, and more.
