Xiaomi is potentially entering the global foldable phone market with the upcoming MIX Fold 4 on the horizon. While the initial launch will be in China (as usual), rumors suggest the MIX Fold 4 might be Xiaomi’s first foldable to see a global release by year’s end.
According to leaker @UniverseIce 13, the MIX Fold 4 won’t just be Xiaomi’s global debut in foldables, it’ll also be the ‘thinnest’ foldable on the market.
Currently, the title belongs to the HONOR Magic V2 (9.9mm), but the brand’s upcoming Magic V3 will be even thinner (reportedly, 9.7mm). The leaker claims the MIX Fold 4 will undercut both at under 10mm mark.
For comparison, its predecessor MIX Fold 3 measured 10.86 mm in thickness when folded.
Furthermore, tagging along is a clamshell-type foldable called the MIX Flip. It’s unclear whether this would remain exclusive in China as of writing. However, a recent leak 14 suggests it will also go global sometime later.
Xiaomi might confirm a launch event in the next few weeks. If not, a launch similar to previous MIX Fold models in August might be more likely.
