Xiaomi, today at its “Stride” inaugural event, has introduced its very own electric vehicle (EV), dubbed as Xiaomi SU7. It comes with two versions, the standard Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi SU7 Max.
The event mainly talked about the latter variant. This sedan boasts a sleek silhouette in either Aqua Blue or Mineral Gray. And its five-spoke alloy wheels, adorned with Michelin tires.
The Xiaomi SU7 Max boasts a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 2.78 seconds and a top speed of 265km/h.
Xiaomi compared these figures against the Tesla Model S, which reaches 100km/h in 3 seconds and has a top speed of only 250km/h.
The EV integrates Xiaomi’s new, unified operating system, the HyperOS, for a “complete ecosystem connecting Human x Car x Home,” Lei Jun said in a post.
Furthermore, the Xiaomi EV will deploy its own auto-pilot system. Simply called as Xiaomi Pilot is a “full-stack self-developed intelligent driving underlying algorithm technology”.
It combines HD camera, Lidar tech, millimeter-wave and ultrasonic radars, IMU and GNSS positioning with high-performance computing chips.
The Xiaomi SU7 as mentioned comes in three colorways: Aqua Blue inspired from the waters 60 meters below, Mineral Gray derived from rock layers of the Yardang landform; and Verdant Green that has a golden reflective layer on top of a pearl finish.
The Xiaomi SU7 packs a 101kWh boasting Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology. This innovative design integrates the battery into the car body, boosting structural rigidity, ditching the floor, and lowering the height for a roomier cabin.
Xiaomi claims a range of up to 800km on a single charge. Plus, it takes just 5 minutes to juice up enough for 220km and 15 minutes for a 510km ride.
Xiaomi also introduced its E-motors called HyperEngine with V6 and V6s—hitting up to 21,000rpm max rotor speed—now in mass production.
The faster Xiaomi HyperEngine V8s, reaching up to 27,200rpm, will hit the road by 2025, Jun says.
Xiaomi will be offering two EV models: the Xiaomi SU7 and the Xiaomi SU7 Max—the model they mainly showcased at the event.
However, Xiaomi says they haven’t decided the final pricing for now and will reveal said info by 2024. Xiaomi also kept the availability details under wraps at this point.
For now, a new special edition Xiaomi 14 31 models and Xiaomi Watch S3 gets released in China today. They come in either the Aqua Blue or Verdant Green colorways, matching the Xiaomi EV.
