Xiaomi has decided to remove background video playback in a HyperOS update (MIUI 15).
Background video playback has been a thoughtful feature since MIUI 12. But now, the video toolbox UI will not offer this option for playback with the screen off in HyperOS (MIUI 15).
It’s also important to note that Xiaomi is moving towards China-exclusive MIUI software, with other countries provided with HyperOS.
This fork should be of note, as patches and updates may vary between the two softwares over time.
