After Huawei, Xiaomi could be the next phone maker to introduce a tri-folding smartphone.
New report suggests that Xiaomi is already working on two different foldable smartphones, based on uncovered patents and certifications.
Codenamed “zhuque”, it will reportedly launch as early as 2025. The defining feature of this device is being button-less, and it will be the brand’s first ever ‘trifold’ smartphone.
Then, there’s the other one set for 2026 release. Its model number 26013VP46C hints that it will launch as early as first quarter of 2026, and the suffix C means it will be exclusive to China. The same treatment likely also goes for the 2025 tri-fold model.
The zhuque model appeared on an IMEI database as well, interestingly with two versions: one with satellite communication (2503FVPB1C), and the other (25031VP29C) without sat comm.
In another news, Huawei’s tri-folding phone, the Mate XT Ultimate, is now set for a global release for 2025. In China, this product is reportedly sold out ‘in seconds’ on first sale.
Only time (and circumstances) would tell if others more will follow suit.
