YouTube has just added five new features for its YouTube Premium users.
Announced on YouTube’s Official Blog, the 5 new features for Premium add more perks to getting the paid skew of YouTube’s video service over the free tier that comes with ads. Let’s take a look at these new features.
First, Premium users will now be able to queue videos on their phones or tablets. Previously, this was only available on computers and browsers via YouTube’s website, but now, users will be able to queue videos on their mobile devices.
Next, Premium users will now be able to watch YouTube together on Android and iOS by hosting Google Meet sessions, where all attendees can watch YouTube videos even if they are on the Premium tier or not,
You will also now be able to jump back and continue watching YouTube videos across multiple devices. This feature is now available for Android, iOS, and the Web across devices.
Next, you will now be able to have videos automatically downloaded to your app via the Smart Downloads feature. Recommended videos will be added straight to the Premium users’ library, ready for offline viewing.
YouTube says they envision this feature to be useful for those who forget to download their favorite content before boarding a long flight, for example.
Last, but certainly not least, Premium YouTube members who use iOS will soon have an enhanced bitrate version of 1080p HD video quality. YouTube says they will launch the upgraded video quality in the coming weeks and that it is being planned for a Web release as well.
