ZTE Axon 60 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 now official

The ZTE Axon 60 Ultra featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is now official.

The new phone also sports a 6.78-inch OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Its chipset is also paired with LPDDR5X RAM with UFS 4.0 storage.

The rear of the phone is highlighted by a 50MP main camera with OIS support, alongside a 50MP ultrawide lens. It also has a third unspecified macro lens as part of its rear camera setup.

For the front, the Axon 60 Ultra has a 32MP selfie shooter housed in a punch hole. This phone is powered by a 6,000mAh silicon carbon battery with 80W of wired charging.

The device also includes an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. ZTE also put a lot of work into the connectivity features provided by this new release.

The Axon 60 Ultra brings dual satellite connectivity, letting end users call and text via China’s Tiantong satellite system.

ZTE also provided a multi-antenna switching algorithm that allows that phone to combine cellular and satellite networks simultaneously. This is for improved data transmission, lower latency, and a connectivity boost for areas with weak cellular coverage.

The Axon 60 Ultra also supports 5.5G, which is China Mobile’s new high-speed 5G network. This offers downlink speeds of up to 10Gbps and uplink up to 1Gbps.

The phone also features dual-system architecture, split between user mode and kernel mode.

User mode allows apps to run with limited access for better system security. Meanwhile, kernel mode gives the OS unrestricted access to your phone’s hardware resources.

ZTE did not reveal details for the pricing of the Axon 60 Ultra at the time of writing.

Additionally, the ZTE Axon 60 Ultra will be limited to Chinese markets and will not be available to regular consumers.
