During our trip to Taipei the other week, I was able to borrow one of Auss’ latest gaming laptop, the Asus G75VW, to bring to my hotel room and spend the night playing Diablo 3 with it.
The new gaming laptop sports the latest and most powerful Intel Ivy Bridge processor, plus a few more really nice additions.
Here’s the exact hardware configuration of the laptop we borrowed.
Asus G75VW specs:
17.3″ full HD 1080p 3D LED @ 1920×1080 pixels
Intel Core i7 3720QM 2.6GHz quad-core
Turbo Boost 3.6GHz (4 cores, 8 threads, 6MB cache)
NVidia GeForce GTX 670M 3GB VRAM
16GB DDR3 RAM
256GB SATA SSD
Bluray-DVD combo
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
GigaBit LAN
3-in-1 Card Reader
1 x VGA port, mini D-sub
4 x USB 3.0 ports
1 x RJ45 LAN port
1 x HDMI port
1 x SPIDIF speaker out
1 x mini Display Port
8-cell 5200mAh 74Whrs Li-Ion battery
Windows 7 64-bit
For storage purposes, there are several configurations you can choose from:
2.5″ SATA Dual HDD
1TB 5400rpm
750GB 5400rpm/7200rpm
500GB 5400rpm/7200rpm
750GB 7200rpm SSH
256GB SSD
RAID0/1 Support
The option for processor could also be an Intel Core i7 3610QM 2.3GHz while the LED display can be just HD, full HD and full HD 3D. When you get the 3D display, it also comes with 3D glasses.
The laptop is also a bit heavy at 4.5kg, the design is similar to the G55 series and he earlier G7x series. The G75VW is technically on the top of the food chain of Asus’ gaming line.
The two-tone, gray-and-black matte finish of the laptop makes that massive chassis a rather subdued look. The full qwerty keyboard also features an extra alpha-numeric keypad on the far right corner. The large, smooth trackpad is somewhat flushed to the left (making it at about the center of the qwerty keyboard).
Managed to get a screenshot of the Windows Experience Index and the numbers looked impressive (I rarely see rigs that get ratings above 7 across the board).
We’re not sure though if Asus will eventually bring this model to the Philippines and for how much. In any case, this is one sweet rig I’d want to bring home.

wow!.. this laptop have a great performance and appearance that’s fit for me as a gamer and sometimes a graphics designer and video editor.

My boyfriend & I own one and we feel ripped off. However, it looks awesome. Its got a nice huge bright screen but the audio is horrendous and it doesn’t feel like an 2nd Gen i7 to be honest. ASUS could’ve at least put some decent speakers on it. Set us back about US$1,400 (roughly Php67K) & was brought here by my sister from the U.S. Took turns in playing Need for Speed: The Run on it & handled it pretty well at HD settings.

Razer Blade Thin & Light Gaming Notebook is still better than that.

Not a big fan of nVidia ever since that g8x meltdown a few years back. If Asus has a G75 with a comparable Radeon, I’m all game for that if the mid-end ones fit within 50-80k.

kahit sobrang taas ng specs nya iba pa rin appeal ng alienware pag ni head to head to sa physical appearance m17x r4 user ako

It’s I/O ports layout does not work for me. I’m right-handed and do not want cables interfering with my mouse space especially during play. Bought the MSI GT70 instead. Better audio, LED backlight, and ports layout.

Nice review. I’m sure they will bring that monster here in PI and would sell about P95,000 or more.

Asus has been going neck to neck with MSI’s G series laptop for about 3 years now. And yet, they still don’t an Nvidia Optimus on their G-series laptops just to extend greatly the battery life of those power hungry high end gpu of Nvidia’s
