I almost bought this last week but the staff from Samsung SM North EDSA mentioned new variants will be arriving later this month with the new Haswell processor. It’s better to wait for Haswell for furtherimprovement in the already acceptable battery life of this unit.
The Samsung laptop Series to ATIV book conversions are as follows:
Series 5 Chronos –> ATIV Book 6
Series 7 Ultra –> ATIV Book 7
Series 7 Chronos –> ATIV Book 8

I brought the Series 7 Ultra (NP740U3E-S01PH.. which is basically this just core i7 instead of i5) from Complink two months ago… For 55k Hehe. They still have it in stock.
I bought a corsair vengeance 8gb ram module and had TCA install it (They’re an authorized samsung service center… and I just showed them my Complink receipt so I didn’t pay for the service…) I had TCA install the ram since I wasn’t confident opening the base… and they’d replace it if they broke it (hehe)… plus libre naman
It’s not up to 16gb, it’s only up to 10gb… there’s only one accessible ram slot, 2gb is on the board. I had someone open an ativ 7 in-store too to check.
… If I can just find a 256gb mSATA ssd drive (SSD of the unit is also upgradeable) then I’d be golden.
Raul says:
… and sidesync also showed up on the samsung update software on the Series 7 ultra, so you wouldn’t be missing out from the Ativ 7…
Also, isn’t the Chronos the Ativ Book 8? Perhaps someone should validate?
Jay says:
This is the rebranded Samsung Series 7 Ultra. Yes, both the hard drive and RAM are user replaceable.
The Samsung Series 7 Chronos is rebranded as the Samsung ATIV Book 8. That line has mechanical HD and a bigger/thicker form factor compared to the Series7 Ultra/ATIV Book 7 line.
Ricky says:
i5 for almost 60k? No thank you
Jay says:
Would gladly buy this at that price if with Haswell processor
up says:
are these RAM and HDD upgradable by the user just like MacBooks? without compromising warranty?
