Acer Aspire One D260 on 22-hour battery life

So I got this D260 in Singapore during the PC Show 2010 earlier this month. I got it for about 15k and being a new model, I thought it was a bargain (it’s selling for 24k here).

I was just actually curious about that Android OS + Windows 7 dual-boot which Acer announced earlier so I wanted to investigate further.

Turns out the unit I got didn’t have Android in it. So I placed it aside and forgot about it. The other night, I tried installing Android 1.6 into the second partition but the result wasn’t as impressive as I expected. I reformatted and installed Windows 7 again.

Just now, while doing some driver updates, I ran Battery Bar and saw that the netbook was doing a very low discharge rate of only  -2,000 mWhr. With a 6-cell battery rated at 4400mAh, this gives the netbook a battery life of 22 hours!

I know it will even out as I use the netbook for surfing and other tasks but at least I know it is possible to conserve the battery life that long. Give me just half of that and I’m happy.

  1. Wishful thinking Abe!

  2. hmm… it’s not april 1 right? :)

But if that is really really true… you got your self a very good battery! :D

  3. my acer aspire one 532h registers a discharge rate of 6,000mW

  4. aww.. Thats so not real.

Can we just test this netbook running in real time conditions? WiFi use for hours or a movie marathon perhaps?

  5. this sooo cool!! Anyways, netbooks are ideal for surfing the net, not for movie marathons..

  6. hehe magnonormalize din yan. same thing happened on the acer aspire 4740 that i’m currently reviewing. 22 hours. pero after long usage nag normalize na. turns out that the 4400mah battery can only give me 2.5 hours worth of juice. hehehe.

  7. Lets test drive it later!

  8. acer..!!! yabang!! palpak namn

  9. master yuga, if you have any plans of selling it, you know where to find me. :D .. im currently looking for a secondary laptop.

  10. **samba***

  11. wow 22 hours, that’s a keeper :D Kaya lang baka nga in the long run bumaba ung hours when you start using a number of apps. :D
How about updating us after a week or two of use sir Abe? :D

  12. Hope you post a review of this netbook soon Sir Yuga =)

  13. that’s quite unreal.

in actuality, the 6-cell battery of the AOD260 will only last 8.5 hours max if the unit is left idle (unit is on but not being used).

22 hours beats acer timeline series of 8+ hrs battery life. just impossible.

  14. i can’t believe it… 22 hours? however i am still interested on giving it a shot…

  15. Would you prefer a Toshiba NB250-10D over this one?
