Two new Honeycomb tablets from Archos are shipping to the Philippines next month. Announced back in June, the Archos 80 and Archos 101 G9 tablets feature dual-core 1.5GHz processors and up to 250GB of internal storage.
In a casual meeting with the new local reps of Archos yesterday, they revealed that the new models are expected to arrive sometime in October.
Coming from a strong background in the portable media player (PMP) space, Archos is the only tablet manufacturer to offer large-capacity tablets up to 250GB (obviously, for storing HD movies).

Like the Archos 80 G9, the 101 is about 12.6mm thin on the flash variant and 15.6mm with the HDD variant.
For both models, the internal Li-Ion battery can last up to 7 hours on video playback and up to 10 hours on web browsing over WiFi. They also come with a rear kick-stand, just like the G8 models we reviewed before.
As for the retail price, I am told they will try and offer it under Php20k to remain competitive (for the Archos 101). The Archos 80 should also be cheaper — probably in the Php16k range.
While the G9 models will be WiFi-only by default, there’s an optional 3G dongle that you can get (~$50PHP 2,934INR 4,237EUR 48CNY 364) that fits perfectly at the back panel (as if it’s really part of the design).

Not a big fan of archos with its unflattering screens but that addon 3g dongle is brilliant. :)

Wow! Affordable! Is it possible to let us know where we can buy this when it arrives? Really good for mobile development and much more…

This is an ICS upgradeable device. Same hardware ng Nexus Droid Prime.
Iyan Sommerset says:
Below 20k, good enough for me. Gonna be used primarily as a GPS device while walking around so I’m looking at the 8″.
Mike Villanueva says:
If you say that it costs less that 20k for both Arcos models then i’m getting one of these!
With a 1.5Ghz dual core processor and an optional 3G dongle, thats kinda impressive. but will see how it really works when it arrives on our stores.

Neat stuff! If this really gets to the under 20K price, I will surely add this one up to the wanted-to-buy list…
